New Year, New Blogger 💁🏾📖

Hello my Beautiful Booknerds!

So, I have been AWOL for quite a bit and THIS is the year that I FINALLY get my blog and life together! Lol. I know I say that a lot, but I got this! Last year I finished my BA, set a new career goal, got a new job and had applied to a Teaching Credential Program. Whew! While my year was hectic, I still found time to read, but I didn’t blog or IG or Litsy as much as I would have liked. This year is the year I figure out the Social Medias. Lol. I am going to make a valiant effort to not only blog more, but Litsy, Instagram and figure out Twitter. I also, will be doing a couple of Reading Challenges, I’m in a book club, and will post more reviews as well as other bookish things that I come across in my little slice of the world. Just to catch up a bit, I read 50 books last year, which is a HUGE deal for me, because I am a slow reader, but Audiobooks for the win! Last year I started a Bookstagram account (Dorkieholliereads) and it has been going okay. I’m still getting the hang of it and it has sparked an interesting in photography for me, but I would like to post on their more often, as well as do some Bookstagram Challenges to liven up my feed. I also, joined Litsy, it’s like if Bookstagram were its own app. It’s pretty cool so far, and I can never have too many book recs, so I’m in! I’m sorry if this sounds more like a shameless plug, but I really am trying to be more diligent with my social medias and connecting with you all. Also, if you have any idea how Tumblr works, holla at ya girl! I don’t quite understand how it works or what I’m doing on it. LOL.

Anywho, Thank you all for hanging in there, even when I was an absentee blogger. You all are amazeballs and look forward to having great conversations with you all in the comments section!

June Wrap Up!! 💁🏾📚

This is the first time doing a wrap up, so let me know what you guys think!  I would like to state that this is the first month after graduation, and I think I had a newfound fervor and zeal with my accomplishment and free time. I have never read or listened to so many books in a month! This may be an average for some, but I got 6 books read this month and possibly 7, if I finish this graphic novel that I am reading by Midnight. Anywho, here are the books I read in June:

•            The Wrath and the Dawn, by Renee Adieh
•            The Life and Loves of a She- Devil by Fay Weldon
•            The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
•            Giant Days by John Allison
•            Simon VS The Homosapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
•            Moon Called by Patricia Briggs

So those are my books! I am kinda all over the place in terms of genre, I read some YA, Fantasy, Adult Contemporary, and Graphic Novel. I am in the middle of Moon Girl and the Devil Dinosaur Vol. 1, and if I finish that tonight, I will have read 7 books! Again, for me, this is a number to celebrate. Haha. I have SOOO many books on my July TBR and I will have a post with those and a brief synopsis on them soon, but I’m hoping to have read the same amount, if not more books than this month, because, why not? I really want to push myself this year and reach my new goal of 50 books. I am really enjoying myself so far and I am delighted that I am exceeding my goals thus far. How did June treat you? Reading at a Snail’s Pace 🐌🐢📚

Am I the only slow reader here? I ADORE reading, but I’m not the quickest. I juggle multiple books at a time, because of how I have my days planned and I incorporate lots of Audiobooks to help me out. Slow and steady wins the race, but my TBR pile is ever growing and I want to read ALL THE BOOKS!!! What do you guys do? Any tips or tricks in learning to read faster ( other than continuing to read more)? Let me know! Help me out!!
